Learn more about Lori Joseph

Living Space Consultant, Co-Active Life Coach
Woodworker, Teacher, Mixed Media Artist and Seamstress

Let me recap the highlights of how I arrived where I am today and how I followed my passions and intuition (at times with resistance and disbelief).

I was 8 years old when I began creating Barbie Doll clothes on my Mom's sewing machine. In my teens, I duplicated designs that I admired in Vogue fashion magazines that were otherwise out of reach and when my children came along I had fun sewing for them and myself, including our winter coats. In order to stay at home during their early years and contribute an income, I created custom designs for others, including evening gowns and wedding dresses.

When my daughters were young I began pursuing my interest in woodworking, taking night courses at a local high school.  I loved it and it soon became another passion. I began taking as many part-time courses as I could and my dream was to enroll in a full-time woodworking course. Becoming a single mom when the girls were 10 and 6 put that dream on hold and I despaired that it might be forever. Six years later, through an amazing series of events and a passion that I could no longer ignore, I enrolled at Conestoga College and began the 3 year Woodworking Technology Co-op Program. At the time (and even when I think about it now) it seemed like a crazy, far-fetched venture. Still raising my girls on my own, I commuted to Kitchener and back every day for 3 years in my Ford Tempo, which was 8 years old when I started. With the support of family, friends and teachers who believed in me (even when I didn't) I was able to follow through on my dream. I did my mandatory co-op and volunteer placements in London which led me to landing a job before I graduated, as well as my teaching positions at Fanshawe College and Lee Valley Tools instructing a variety of woodworking courses.

I have enjoyed a fulfilling  long-term career that has encompassed exciting roles as a project manager, operations manager and being second in command of a commercial millwork company, creating quality high-end custom designs. I am proud to say there are many prestigious locations in the city that showcase our work. During that career, I also was fortunate to have the opportunity to obtain my Life Coaching Certificate through CTI and have used those skills in my work and personal life ever since. In 2008, I began volunteering my services to "Women Together", a non-profit organization which, twice a year, offers a 14 week one-on-one program to women of all backgrounds, so they may benefit from having a Life Coach. It's such an honour for me to witness their amazing transformations and how they are empowered to move forward in their lives in ways they didn't believe were possible.

Through all of my accomplishments, I have had many of my own personal struggles that I am able draw from. I understand what it is like to be overwhelmed and unhappy with your present situation and to have the desire to be proud of who and where you are no matter what your circumstances. My own home has seen many changes and has evolved along with me. I used to be embarrassed and reluctant to invite people into my home as it didn't reflect the person I knew I was on the inside. Through self-discovery, utilizing my skills and hiring a life coach myself, I now have a home that reflects who I am as a person and displays snippets and reminders of my life's journey. I continue to seek out and learn new skills and positive methods in order to be happy and gain a healthy control of where I am today while looking to where I might like to go in the future.

When life threw me a "curveball" it opened up the opportunity to reflect on what I wanted to do next. I realized that what is most important to me is to work in a way that encompasses my whole-self and honours who I am.

I am so excited and full of joy to have created a business where I can draw from all of my skills and experience and have the opportunity to share my knowledge and passions. My genuine desire is to have others enjoy and benefit from being in a space that reflects their true self. Together we can do it .
